Lakers F Barnes sprains right knee against the Hornets (AP)

LOS ANGELES Lakers before Matt Barnes sprained right knee in the victory of Los Angeles on the New Orleans Hornets Friday night and coach Phil Jackson feared that the damage can be severe.

Barnes was wounded during the second quarter when he landed awkwardly after Jarrett Jack fight for a rebound. Barnes has spun into the air while attempting to control the ball with one arm, eventually come hard on his right leg.

Barnes will have an MRI Saturday to the extent of his injury. Jackson said he was "concerned" Barnes health.

"I will do an MRI, and then we will set up a timetable," Barnes said while walking from Staples Center after the competition. "Once you run can, it is a good sign... so just keep hope."

Barnes had two points in 10 minutes in the first half, but with 5: 22 left in the second quarter of the Lakers 101 - 97 win extract.

Barnes is an average of 7. 5 points and 4.9 rebounds in his first season with the Lakers, these valuable minutes as a backup to low score starter Ron Artest.
