Butler tops Washington St. 84-68 for Hawaii title (AP)

Mack Helsinki-Shelvin was awarded 20 points pace Butler 84 - 68 victory on Washington State Diamond Head-Classic Championship game Saturday night.

A second 15-0-run half fed their fifth victory right Bulldogs (9-4).

Klay Thompson scored a game-high 31 points leads Cougars (10-2), whose five-game winning streak ended.

Butler, creating a magical race in NCAA tournament lost to Duke in the national title game last season shot 50 percent in the field, including 11 of 27 on 3-pointers.

The Bulldogs marked their first six possessions of the second half, including three straight 3-pointers. Both come from Zach Hahn, who finished with 14 points. Andrew Smith and tournament MVP Matt Howard had also 14 points. Mack and Thompson also all-tournament team.

Florida State defeated No. Baylor 15 for third place.
